How to qualify
Who invoice finance suits
Invoice finance suits businesses whose invoices meet a few simple conditions. At a high level, a business qualifies when it is:
- Invoicing business to business. Its customers are other businesses, not consumers.
- Invoicing on terms. Customers are given a set time to pay, such as 30 or 60 days, rather than paying upfront.
- Invoicing completed work. Invoices are straightforward: a clear invoice for goods delivered or work completed, with the amount and the due date stated.

An illustration of which invoices qualify. Invoice finance suits business-to-business invoices, on terms, for completed work. Consumer invoices, invoices to related entities and invoices for incomplete work, such as deposits before work starts, subscription and monthly fees, pre-invoicing and other work not guaranteed to be paid, do not qualify. Progress claims and contra accounts can reduce the usual funding amount.
Invoices that don't qualify
Some invoices can't be funded, even for a business that otherwise qualifies:
- Consumer invoices. Invoices issued to individuals rather than businesses.
- Invoices to related entities. Invoices issued to companies or people connected to the business itself.
- Invoices for incomplete work, including:
- deposits, before work starts;
- subscription and monthly fees;
- pre-invoicing;
- other work that isn't guaranteed to be paid.
Other invoicing
Some types of business-to-business invoicing are more challenging and may not be eligible for the usual funding amount, such as:
- Progress claim invoices. Invoices raised in stages as a project progresses.
- Invoices to customers with contra accounts. Customers that the business also owes money to.

The calculator on this website gives an indicative borrowing amount from an aged receivables report. A report is a summary of a ledger, so it can't always show which individual invoices would qualify, and the amount may include invoices that wouldn't. Whether a particular invoice qualifies is confirmed by the provider when it reviews the invoices.
